HOURS:    Monday – Friday (Salaried – 40 hours per week)
* Hours need to be approved by Student Ministries Pastor

DESCRIPTION: This individual will be a team member and contribute to both the worship, programming and administrative needs of the Student Ministries Team at South Hills Church Community. The job will include helping the Student Ministries Pastor carry out the vision for Junior High and High School students.  He will plan worship schedules, carry out some of the administrative duties of the ministries, interact gracefully with people, protect the pastor’s schedule, and be willing to learn and grow into the ministry God has called him to. This position requires the employee to be flexible, administratively minded, ministry minded, organized and have great people skills. Furthermore, this individual needs to be able to work well on a team of people.

TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Will work as part of the leadership team for Student Ministries (this involves visioning and long term planning)
•    Will be available for various weeknight and weekend events (hours need to be flexible—these changes will be set up at least one week in advance).
•    Update of the Student Ministries websites.
•    Create flyers for needed events
•    Oversee the worship and tech area for student ministries
•    Produce and publish all printed materials.
•    Track and update databases for Student Ministries.
•    Write letters and e-mails at the request of pastor and handle all mass mailings and e-mailings.
•    Be willing to be 1st point of contact for students and parents in times needed. Give accurate information over the phone and on the web regarding events and programs.
•    Attend weekly Student Ministries Meetings.
•    Shop for trips, retreats and special events.
•    Recruit new leaders when the opportunity arises.
•    Maintain and grow our current worship teams.
•    Do whatever the helk I ask you to.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

•    Minimum of high school diploma.
•    Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
•    Lead worship and be able to run a team
•    Working knowledge of standard office equipment, procedures, and practices.
•    Proficiency in the following computer applications: Microsoft Office suite of applications, desktop publishing, email, and the Internet.
•    Proper grammar, spelling, punctuation and business correspondence format.
•    Good communication and conflict resolution skills.
•    Work independently in the absence of specific instruction.

MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES

Worship Service/Programming
•    Assist the Lead Worship Pastor/Director of Programming in all the technical aspects of our Sunday worship service.

•    Be available to help with any aspect of the Sunday morning service including the role of Producer, Sound Technician, PowerPoint lead, etc.  

•     Be available to train volunteers in the correct use of our equipment.

•    Help to craft an occasional drama/sketch for use in the Sunday morning worship service of our church or other gatherings at our church building.

•    Assistant in the creation of a video team that will make videos and different elements that can be used on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Office
•    Assistant in the creation of a video team that will make videos and different elements that can be used on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

•    Oversee and be involved in keeping our Church web-site regularly maintained with current information.

•    When available, assist the Pastoral Staff or Support Staff with computer-related issues

•    Maintain regular office hours and be available as needed to assist the Pastoral Staff or other support staff in tasks needing attention.

Student Ministries
•    Assist in leading small groups by recruiting leaders, finding homes, and plugging students into: age, gender, and geographic appropriate groups.

•    Be available and ready to teach at Middle School or High School

•    Connect with students and create relationships that will allow you to do evangelism on local campus’
•    Be available to the Student Ministries Department for assignment related to technical issues

•    Assist in the building and development of our current teams

Additional Ministry Duties
•    Oversee additional ministry where gifts, interests, and church needs coincide, as determined with the Lead Pastor (examples: family ministry, worship, creative programming, special events, etc…).

Specific Expectations
•    Work 40-45 hours per week with a balance between office, work at the church building, the work of the church community, contacts and activities related to ministry.
 
•    Work with excellence and seek to honor God and our church community with your God-honoring craft.

•    Attend the weekly staff meeting and be prepared to report on important developments in your area of ministry.

•    Maintain a personal daily quiet time, involvement in a Finish Line Group, an organic fellowship and regular attendance in our worship services.

INTERN
Relationships and Accountability

1.    Accountable to the Worship Pastor, in all aspects of the technical part of your ministry, including areas such as performance, conduct, work schedule, office hours, ministry assignments and priorities.  Accountable to the congregation and all other parties through the Lead Pastor.  Directly responsible to the Student Ministries Pastor, Neal Benson, for any assignments related to Student Ministries.

2.    Directly responsible for all lay leaders who operate within the scope of his ministry. Has authority to direct these ministries and their corresponding leaders.

3.    Work schedule, including regular office hours, to be determined under direction of Lead Worshipper and Programming Director.

4.    A six-month evaluation of this position will be done
