Experience the joy of personal revival! The cost is $18.00 and books can be picked up at the first lesson. Register for the course at the Women's table in the Gathering Room beginning this Sunday.
Woman at the well The Women's Ministry of South Hills Church Community is very excited to be able to provide support for Dorcas House in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso West Africa. Now completed, Dorcas House is a safe home for girls at risk. They will live at Dorcas House while learning a trade that will enable them to be self-sufficient. In its first phase of building construction there were many needs. Our Auction for Africa raised over $2,000 for the water well!
Sonrise Quilting Ministry
The Lord must surely be happy with our work as He continues to bless our quilting ministry with a supply of beautiful fabric in order to keep our inventory sufficient to always have a quilt ready when there is a need. Through the generousity of our community and the members of our ministry we have distributed more than 150 quilts since we began two years ago! Sonrise Quilters completed 32 scripture quilts to be distributed to
each of the Dorcas residents. As is the custom, the women use sleeping
mats on the floor and our quilts will provide not only warmth, but also
wrap them in God's word. Our plan for 2009 is to be able to provide quilts to the residents of Child Haven. Call Sara Myers 616-6700 to learn how you can help with donations of time, materials, and dollars.
We are blessed to share this God Story from Larry Wolters, Christian & Missionary Alliance missionary in Burkina Faso:
BABY DEBORAH
 Pray for Baby Deborah In
early November we visited Sector 30 with the Valley Creek team to visit
Djamila and some friends. While we were there we met baby Deborah. We
all were taken by this tiny baby. Deborah is eleven months old but is
only the size of a 6 month old. Her relatives told us that she has
been sick since birth with respiratory problems. Last week Pasco, a
mission employee who lives in Sector 30, came to ask if we could help
out with the purchase of some more cough syrup for the baby. We said
that we could help but we asked if they would be open to taking her to
a clinic to see a doctor friend of ours. Often times the clinics here do not have experienced doctors or nurses. We thought another
opinion would be a good idea. The next day we heard that baby Deborah
was at the Pediatric Hospital. Our doctor friend called and told us
that she has a congenital heart disorder. Her liver was enlarged, her
heart was not working properly and her lungs were filling up. We visited baby Deborah and we were able to pray for her and
the family. Her mother thanked us for helping with the medical
expenses and she shared that baby Deborah had smiled for the first time
since she was born. Another neat thing about our visit was that we saw
a bright and colorful quilt on her bed. Come to find out it was a
quilt that South Hills Church Community (a team from Las Vegas) brought
out as gifts a few years ago. Well, Pasco received one, and she gave it
to Deborah. On the quilt there are verses written in French so, each
day this little one is covered in God’s Word! PRAY for Deborah as she awaits the news about her future. PRAY for us to have wisdom in discerning how much we can financially help, and also PRAY for us as we share the message of God’s amazing love with the family.
