Heart to heart connection, helping women love God, each other and the lost world.
Sallie Johnson is leading a 5 week study by Kay Arthur, "Lord, Teach Me To Pray In 28 Days" THURSDAYS, 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM, at the church. "TASTE AND SEE THE LORD IS GOOD" is the theme for our spring retreat in Zion, May 16 -18th. Yes! We all love chocolate - but that's only the dessert - wait until you experience the banquet our ministry team has prepared for us. Join us for worship, prayer and study as Sallie Johnson and Pat Meye lead us through lessons that will help us to "taste and see daily to know God." Zion is a beautiful park so we will have time to enjoy hikes, golf, and shopping. And you can always expect good things to eat and fun games to share. But best of all, we will have time to pray together and send our roots deeper to survive the the conditions of everyday life. The cost is $175 and your $50 deposit is due now (credit cards are now being accepted). You will find registration forms in the Gathering Room at church or contact Debbie Robbins . Hurry! Space is filling up fast.
We are very excited to be able to provide support for Dorcas House in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso West Africa. When completed, Dorcas House will be a safe home for girls at risk. They will live at Dorcas House while learning a trade that will enable them to be self-sufficient. In its first phase of building construction there are many needs. Our immediate focus is to cover the expenses of drilling a well. Our Auction for Africa raised over $2,000 for the well!
After a break for the holidays, Sonrise Quilters are working again. Our lap quilts incorporate blocks with verses of comfort from the Bible. In addition to making quilts for people in Hospice, suffering the loss of a loved one, or recovering from an illnes, we have a special project for this Spring. We would like to give quilts to Dorcas House for each of the residents. As is the custom, the women use sleeping mats on the floor and our quilts will provide not only warmth, but also wrap them in God's word. These quilts will be full sized and we need at least 24 of them completed by May so we can use lots of help. There's much to do, even if you don't know how to sew. We meet for a workshop the 3rd Saturday of every month in the Gathering Room. If you are a sewer, bring your machine, scissors, and light colored thread. If you've never made a quilt before, we can teach you how. For non-sewers, we'll teach you how to write the verses, or to cut, press, sandwich, and pin the pieces together. Call Sara Myers 616-6700 to learn how you can help with donations of time, materials, or dollars.
